All About Diamonds
The 4c's
Colour. Clarity. Cut. Carat.
The 4c's listed above assess & measure the quality of a diamond! Created by the GIA, a non-profit organisation, to ensure trust between the trade and consumers!
Colour
Diamonds with more color, such as pale yellow or brown tints, can have lower color grades and value. While subtle color can add uniqueness to a diamond, increased color makes it harder for light to pass through, resulting in a duller appearance.
In contrast, clear and colorless diamonds allow light to flow freely, creating more brilliance. Lab-grown diamonds tend to have fewer color variations, resulting in a higher proportion of colorless stones.
If you can see how lack lustre & flat in appearance the Poor grade is compared to the Ideal. This is because of the lack of symmetry and definition in the cut of the diamond meaning the facets aren't as defined or proportionate so, the light is not refracting as it should causing to look dull & dark!
Clarity
Diamond clarity is all about how clear and clean your diamond is, focusing on the absence of blemishes and inclusions. The scale below ranges from ‘flawless’ to ‘included’!To check a diamond's clarity, it's inspected under 10x magnification, since our eyes can often miss those tiny imperfections.
Diamonds with clarity ratings of VS1 to SI1 offer the best value for money, appearing eye-clean while being significantly more affordable than their higher-clarity counterparts.
Cut
Cut grade is mainly determined by the stone's proportions, which are the specific measurements of the diamond influencing its sparkle. It's essential to realize that even two diamonds of the same carat weight can have different face dimensions, affecting light performance and optical size.

Carat
Carat is the measurement in which diamond are weighed, Diamonds come in all shapes and sizes! Some shapes come up more generous in size than others of the same carat weight this is because the weight is proportioned differently!
For example cuts such as Oval & Pear are shallower so they make up for this in length and width which is why they appear larger! As you can see below on the right, these stones three stones are all 3 carat although they all appear so different!
